Common questions
What upgrades make the biggest difference?
For most machines: an SSD if you're still on a hard drive (massive improvement), and RAM if you're under 16GB. GPU upgrades depend heavily on your use case.
Can you source the parts or do I need to buy them?
We source everything — you don't need to buy parts separately unless you prefer to.
Do I need to back up my data before an upgrade?
For RAM and GPU upgrades, no. For storage upgrades, we'll handle the migration as part of the job.
What if I'm not sure what I need?
That's what the consultation is for. Bring it in or call us — we'll tell you honestly what's worth upgrading and what isn't.
Is there a warranty on the upgrade?
Yes — parts are covered by the manufacturer warranty, and our labor is covered for 90 days.
Free advice — try this first
Before you book, try this
Before paying for an upgrade, figure out what's actually slowing you down. The wrong upgrade is just expensive disappointment.
- Identify the real bottleneck — Open Task Manager → Performance. Watch CPU, Memory, and Disk while doing the thing that's slow. Whichever one pegs at 100% is your bottleneck. Upgrading anything else doesn't help.
- Check your current specs — Press Windows + R, type "msinfo32", hit Enter. Note your CPU, installed RAM, and motherboard model. You'll need these to know what upgrades are compatible.
- Read your motherboard's manual for limits — Most motherboards have a max RAM ceiling (often 64 GB or 128 GB), specific generation (DDR4 vs DDR5), and supported CPU list. Free advice: don't buy parts until you've confirmed compatibility — returns on opened components are messy.
If that doesn't fix it, that's what we're here for. The $24.99 diagnostic still applies — no fix, no charge.
