Free advice — try this first
Before you book, try this
A diagnostic is the right call when you're not sure what's wrong. But if you have a clear suspicion, you can often save the trip with 10 minutes of self-investigation.
- Check disk space first — Open File Explorer, right-click your C: drive. If you're under 20 GB free, that alone can cause every symptom — slowness, crashes, weird behavior. Run Disk Cleanup before assuming hardware failure.
- Open Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc) — Look at CPU and Memory while doing whatever feels slow. If both are pegged at 90%+, you have an actual resource problem. If neither is touched, it's likely a disk or network issue.
- Run a full Windows Defender scan — Settings → Privacy & security → Windows Security → Virus & threat protection → Scan options → Full scan. This rules out the most common cause of mystery slowness.
If that doesn't fix it, that's what we're here for. The $24.99 diagnostic still applies — no fix, no charge.
